Raipur, /Governor Shri Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today attended the Police Commemoration Day parade organised at the 4th Battalion premises of Chhattisgarh Armed Force, Mana, Raipur. Both dignitaries paid floral tributes at the Police Memorial, saluting the courage and sacrifice of the brave police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

 

The Governor and Chief Minister met the families of the martyred officers and personnel, expressed heartfelt condolences and assured them of the government’s continued support. On this occasion, shawls, shreephal and mementoes were presented to the family members of the martyrs.

Governor Ramen Deka, paying homage to the martyrs, said, “The indomitable courage, valour and supreme sacrifice of the police will forever be remembered and revered by the nation.” He noted that it is due to the unwavering dedication, discipline and round-the-clock service of police personnel that citizens today are able to live in an atmosphere of peace, safety and trust.

 

Calling the duties of the police extremely challenging, the Governor said that maintaining law and order on one hand and ensuring a fear-free environment for citizens on the other represent a dual responsibility that demands immense courage and commitment. 

 

Referring to the Naxal-affected areas, Governor Deka praised the Chhattisgarh Police for facing the challenge of extremism with determination, courage and integrity, which has strengthened the atmosphere of peace and trust in these regions. He expressed confidence that the state will be completely free from the Naxal problem. The Governor also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and saluted all police officers and personnel for their consistent service and devotion to duty.

 

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that October 21 is a day to remember and honour those brave police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of national security. He added that police and security forces work tirelessly round the clock under difficult circumstances to safeguard society. “It is because of their dedication and discipline that the state enjoys an atmosphere of peace, security and public trust,” he said.

The Chief Minister added that the day is not only an occasion to recall the valour of the police but also to pay heartfelt homage to the sacrifice of their families. He said that Chhattisgarh’s security forces have displayed unmatched bravery in the fight against Naxalism, which has paved the way for rapid development in previously affected regions. He highlighted that schemes such as Niyad Nella Nar Yojana, PM Janman Mission, and Dhartii Aaba Tribal Village Utkarsh Abhiyan are transforming lives in remote tribal areas.

 

CM Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the campaign to eradicate Naxalism has gained strong momentum, and the state government is committed to achieving complete elimination by March 2026. He paid tribute to the immortal martyrs, stating that “their sacrifice will always inspire us to uphold duty, discipline and devotion.”

 

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that Chhattisgarh’s brave police personnel are continuously fighting with indomitable courage and valour to eradicate Naxalism from Bastar. He said that the police are not only combating extremism but also playing an instrumental role in accelerating development activities in the region.

He reiterated that the state government is committed to preserving the memory of the martyrs and supporting their families. Sharma informed that a commemorative booklet (Smarika) will be published to immortalize the sacrifice of the police martyrs. He also highlighted the arrangements made at the IG and SP offices to provide assistance to the families of the fallen heroes. Deputy CM Sharma concluded his address by paying heartfelt tribute to the brave police personnel.

The ceremony was attended by MLAs Motilal Sahu and Anuj Sharma, Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rahul Bhagat, senior police officers, Divisional Commissioner Mahadev Kanware, Inspector General Amresh Mishra, police personnel and family members of the martyrs.
