Amount reached farmers’ accounts: Double engine government continuously working for farmers’ prosperity: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai*
Raipur / Viewing the live online broadcast from Guwahati, Chhattisgarh joined the nation as Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released the 22nd installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme on Friday.
On the occasion, over 9 crore farmers across the country received more than Rs 18,640 crore directly into their bank accounts. In Chhattisgarh, Rs 498.83 crore was credited to the accounts of 24.71 lakh farmers.
Addressing farmers at the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi fund transfer and PM Kisan Utsav Divas program held at the auditorium of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya in Raipur, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said, "Today is an important day for our farmer brothers and sisters. Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually in three installments, recognizing their hard work and contribution."
Under this scheme, farmers in Chhattisgarh have received over Rs 11,283 crore since the launch of the scheme in 2018 with the first instalment released in February in 2019. The state government, prioritizing farmers’ welfare, also credited a bonus of Rs 3,716 crore to 13 lakh farmers soon after the government came into power.
Shri Sai highlighted that Chhattisgarh is the first state to buy paddy at 21 quintals per acre at Rs 3,100 per quintal, with payments credited within 48 hours. Under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, over 25 lakh farmers received Rs 10,324 crore before Holi.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said the government is boosting farmers’ income by promoting pulses, oilseeds, maize, kodo-kutki, ragi, and cotton. Free electricity is provided for agricultural pumps with Rs 5,500 crore allocated this year, Rs 40 crore for organic farming, and a Rs 10,000 crore irrigation project has been launched to ensure water reaches fields.
Addressing the program, Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam said, "The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has been a major support for farmers. I urge them to cultivate not just paddy but also other crops to save water and boost their income." Dharamjaigarh MLA Shri Anuj Sharma also congratulated the farmers.
The program was attended by Zilla Panchayat Chairman Shri Naveen Agrawal, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Seed & Agricultural Development Corporation Shri Chandrahas Chandrakar, Director of Agriculture Shri Rahul Dev, MD of Chhattisgarh Seed Development Corporation Shri Ajay Agrawal, Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Dr Girish Chandel, along with representatives, officials, and a large number of farmers.
